Downeast hull designs are known for their soft, dry ride. They ride at relatively flat angles at all speed ranges. Moreover, like many private airplanes, their single engine design cuts fuel and maintenance costs in half and a keel that gives the best protection to the propeller and rudder possible
Construction
Hull is solid fiberglass and partially cored from the waterline up. Side is partially cored fiberglass. Foredeck is plywood overlayed with fiberglass. Cockpit and deck are marine grade plywood with fiberglass with applied non-skid in weather deck traffic areas. Hull is gray and house and deck are white. Fixed bilge keels combine with the Jarvis Newman 38's deep hull and added bilge strakes give HANNAH II performance that is best stated as "stability plus".
Engine
2006 350hp Cummins diesel, 6 CTA 8.3. 3366 engine hours as of September 2010. Under average conditions fuel consumption is 1600 rpm, 3.8 gph, at 1800 rpm it is 5 gph. Transmission is a Twin Disc MG-507-1 with a 2.54:1 ration connected to a 2” main shaft AND A 28”x28” propeller
Tankage
636-gal. capacity (two 208-gal, two 110-gal) aluminum tanks for fuel with an easy usable 540 gallons or 1600 miles @ 1500RPM OR 1060 miles @ 1775 RPM, with Racor 1000FG Blue Filter units, 185-gal capacity stainless tanks for water. 40-gal. aluminum holding tank. Spectra water maker.
Electrical
12V lighting and 12V starting systems, Balmar 160A engine alternator, 3 8D 12 volt batteries, circuit breakers, Auxiliary Honda 2000, Wind Generator, battery charger, shore-power hook up.
Accommodations
One stateroom that has two single berths, one head and hand held shower. Hot water tank holds 5.3-gal. Espar D4 Airtronic handles the cabin heating chores. Galley is equipped with a stainless steel 2-burner Tasco gas stove with oven, an oversized single stainless steel sink with stainless counter and a working counter in wood-grain Formica. There are two Norcold chest-type freezer/refrigerators. The Pilot House features captain and mate's seats as well as folding passenger chairs.
Ground Tackle
One 44-lb and one 35-lb Delta anchor rigged at the bow, 300' high tensile 5/16" chain (the first 150' was replaced "new" in 2010 with grade 40 Acco chain.) A Fortress chain anchor with 5/16" chain and 5/8" nylon rode is stowed aft. System is supported by an Ideal 12V DC capstan style anchor windlass.
Equipment
There is back up equipment to most systems and a spare parts inventory that will signal to you that this boat is expedition ready! The location of all equipment is cataloged and it is all stored correctly for resistance to the elements. This equipment totals several thousand dollars and is, along with the inventory list, upgrade list and current survey, available upon request. Also included are an Avon 11' dinghy with 9hp outboard and a Zodiac 4-person life raft.
Electronics and Navigation
Icom VHF, Furuno radar, Northstar 6000i GPS with integrated Northstar radar, Furuno GP-31, 2006 Garmin Fishfinder 320C, 2007 Furuno Weather Fax "408", Ritchie Magnetic Navigation Compass.
