DESCRIPTION: Wilbur Yacht’s fine joinery matched with the Newman 46’s sea-kindly hull and United States Coast Guard Inspected building process make Sea State an exceptionally handsome and capable cruiser. Her second owner, a marina owner, applied his many years of experience to make her a capable marine research vessel, treasure and tuna hunter. Voyaging from Maine to the Keys in fair weather and foul has proven her capabilities. Sea State’s interior reflects special attention to the details of creature comfort and ease of maintenance. Oil-finished southern cypress paneling make her bright and airy below. Passage doors and bulkheads are sound insulated. Her salon windows are quarter-inch tempered glass and her many opening ports and hatches are heavy Lexan by Bomar. All hardware below is brass or bronze, which together with a western fir cabin sole caulked with 3-M caulking give her a traditional “shippy” appearance. Her amidships galley with two-burner stove and oven (220v) is a cook’s delight. An upright refrigerator-freezer plus racked dish service for eight complete her well-appointed galley. Sea State provides sleeping comfort for four in a large forward stateroom. In addition there’s a large single watch berth, port side aft in the pilot house. As rugged as she is handsome, she will appeal strongly to those who admire traditional Down East craftsmanship and classic style.
